The eldest among the 12 elders, Bayan valued the wisdom of elders above all else. She preached that no philosophical method or school was wiser or richer than the experience granted by longevity. She encouraged her apprentices to develop an accurate and conscious observation of life, as well as to reflect on each event in order to build self-knowledge. Motto: “The best advice is experience.”
